This family-owned Taiwanese café might not have all the trendy toppings like cheese foam or puff cream, but it makes up for that with consistently good, classic drinks that aren’t too sweet, even without having to customize the sugar level. If you’re looking for something extra creamy, check out their signature brown sugar milk tea topped with whipped cream cheese. My order rotates between the jasmine milk tea with boba or the assam black milk tea, both of which come with oat, soy, almond, or lactose-free milk alternatives for my vegan or lactose intolerant friends. The tea house sits right across from Portland State University and offers an assortment of drinks, including lattes and refreshers. Step inside this little boba shop and the first thing you’ll find is a wall covered in polaroids of cats.

Shake the drink (after getting the obligatory Instagram photo), then take a sip-it’s like drinking melted strawberry and green tea ice cream. It arrives layered, with housemade strawberry purée on the bottom, your choice of milk in the middle, and vibrant green ceremonial-grade matcha on top. Our go-to drink: the strawberry matcha milk tea with boba. This Division Street shop specializes in boba and Vietnamese fro-yo. Tapioca pearls aren’t even required-you could also get yours with cheese foam or grass jelly (two of our faves), or even drink it plain if you must. Like your bubble tea to be as glam as you? Try a rose-lychee drink with creamy foam and crystal boba.

Like your boba bitter like your soul? Get freshly brewed black tea with zero percent sugar. Like yours to taste like cake frosting? Go with the puff cream tea. Just as there’s supposedly a lid for every pot, we firmly believe that there’s a bubble tea out there to quench every thirst.
